Mesotherapy & Dutasteride Combo Therapy

Dr. Rapaport occasionally mixes Mesotherapy with ProGen PRP. Because these two medicines work well together, the effects of this combo treatment are improved.

Combination therapy, such as Mesotherapy with Dutasteride, holds the potential to effectively address hair loss while minimizing systemic absorption, as asserted by Dr. Rapaport of Englewood Cliffs, NJ. Dutasteride can be precisely administered to the hair follicles, optimizing its efficacy when injected into the scalp. This technique reduces the amount of drug entering the bloodstream, mitigating the likelihood of adverse effects. As a board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Rapaport personally administers all mesotherapy injections to ensure optimal results. His expertise allows him to identify specific targeted areas (with a maximum quantity limit) and determine the appropriate injection depth. Each individual’s injection technique is tailored, reflecting the unique locations they treat.

A recent investigation into the efficacy of mesotherapy with dutasteride for male-pattern hair loss was published in the Journal of Cutaneous and Aesthetic Surgery. The study, encompassing twenty male patients who underwent six months of dutasteride-infused mesotherapy, revealed a significant increase in hair thickness and density with minimal adverse effects.

The traditional mesotherapy procedure involves injecting a combination of vitamins, minerals, or pharmaceuticals into the mesoderm, the skin layer beneath the epidermis. Dr. Rapaport employs his variation of this method to address different types of hair loss. He advocates for the off-label use of FDA-approved oral medication dutasteride, emphasizing its potential as a successful treatment for hair loss. Dutasteride works by inhibiting the alpha reductase enzyme, preventing the production of the hormone DHT, a primary cause of hair loss in both men and women.

A study comparing the efficacy of oral dutasteride and mesotherapy with dutasteride for androgenetic alopecia treatment was published in the International Journal of Trichology. The sixty male patients in the trial were randomized to receive either oral dutasteride or mesotherapy with dutasteride for six months. Both treatments significantly improved hair density and thickness; however, individuals undergoing dutasteride mesotherapy experienced fewer side effects.
